Our Scheduled Departures are designed as a group tour with set departure dates that anyone can join. These Mozambique kayak safaris are open to a wide range of nationalities and you will be traveling with a group of like-minded people from all walks of life. There may also be children, over the age of eight, under their parent’s supervision on these scheduled trips.
TAILOR MADE PRIVATE SAFARIS
Our Tailor-Made Private Safaris are exactly that. Your special group of friends or family can plan the entire experience to your exact needs, taking into account your specific interests and requested activities, length of the itinerary and the dates that suit you. This will be a closed departure, just for your group or booking. Most of the safaris we run are for groups of people who want the freedom and privacy of their own trip. These range from honeymooners, who are looking for the ultimate Mozambique honeymoon, to groups of up to 20 people wanting to travel together.
MOBILE ECO FLY CAMPS
There is nothing quite like chilling under the Mozambique stars or waking to the sight of the sun slowly rising over the ocean from a deserted island. Mobile safaris give us the flexibility we need to show you the ‘real’ Mozambique – each camp has been carefully chosen to highlight the unique diversity of the Quirimbas region and its ecosystems.
Our camps are also deliberately eco-friendly and rustic and all the necessary equipment is on board to make things comfortable. The emphasis is on island-style simplicity and responsible tourism – and the thrill of sitting around a camp fire with your feet in the sand, under the stars, on your very own private island.
You will sleep in two-man 3 x 3-meter dome tents with built-in ground sheets and mosquito nets. For larger groups with more than six clients, separate bush ablutions are provided for men and women (long drop toilet and bush shower).
Bedding, stretchers, foam mattresses and pillows are provided. For scheduled departures, sleeping bags are supplied, and for private departures, linen is provided.
We offer a basic laundry service on request (no ironing is required – island life is simple!)
Our aim is to leave little trace of our camps when we depart, so do not expect fixed facilities or Mozambique luxury accommodation. The luxury of this experience is the experience of sleeping out on your own beach.
WHAT’S ON THE MENU?
Our camps are fully serviced which means there is a chef to whip up those seafood extravaganzas, waiter and bar service assistants to keep the drinks flowing…
You will dine in a 5m by 5m dining tent, set up to best maximize each camp’s views and meals are either served sit-down-tablecloth-style or in a more relaxed fashion around the fire, with your toes in the sand.
All meals focus on fresh seafood, the catch of the day. We will do our best to cater for vegetarians and special dietary requests but please understand that these safaris are operated in extremely remote regions and we cannot always cater to complicated requests.
ISLANDS IN THE SUN
Ibo Island’s kayak safaris aim to carry you beyond the reach of holiday crowds, to sights and adventures few have seen – to carefully chosen deserted islands. Exotic little hideaways offer intimate bays and beaches to explore. There will be sublime swimming in warm clear waters – your guide knows all the special snorkelling spots. Look out for an amazing bird which inhabits the Quirimbas – storks, Fish eagles, Mangrove kingfishers, plovers, Masascar Pratincoles to name but a few!
All of our safaris are fully serviced. When you arrive at your destination the area is yours for the exploring! Your trusty crew will handle all the camp set up and duties, leaving you free to kayak (kayaks on board for your use) and explore, relax, swim or snorkel.
