Mozambique Accommodation – Sea Facing Rooms

Niassa Mansion:

Once the headquarters of the mighty Niassa trading company on Ibo Island the Niassa mansion is a grand old original Ibo building with a pitched roof that still boasts her original red clay tiles shipped to Ibo from Marseilles during the colonial times. Ndorwe means fish eagle in Kimwani and if you are lucky you will hear the unmistakable cry of this magnificent bird of prey as it hunts for fish in the bay in-front of your room. Mweezi is the Kimwani name for moon and was named for its ‘stair way to heaven’ moonlight views over the ocean. Both rooms are very popular with guests on a Mozambique honeymoon!

Bela Vista Mansion:

Ngalawa is the Kimwani name for sailing dhow and is the only room in the Bela Vista Mansion and enjoys the entire Bela Vista veranda which is a barefoot hop and skip to the lounge. Perfect for those guests who want to be close to all the lodge facilities. The view from the front, deep veranda is one of the best at Ibo Island Lodge.

Paradiso Mansion:

Once the original old hotel on Ibo Island, and older than many of the restored buildings on Ibo the Paradiso mansion has beautiful architecture, with large rooms and enormous windows. Sea facing rooms Suki (dolphin) and Kipira (Yellow bill Stork) are the largest rooms in the lodge and both boast enormous bathrooms and the full use of the entire front veranda. This is truly one of the best Mozambique Private Villas available up north. Totally unique and perfect for a really special Mozambique Holiday. All sea facing rooms feature an enormous 4 poster king size carved bed draped in romantic mosquito netting with rich sea scape colors. High lofty ceilings still boasting their original dark teak ceiling beams from which air conditioning and ceiling fans keep these beautiful rooms cool and comfortable. All rooms have en-suite bathrooms with twin basins, baths, a large marble shower and a stunning range of guest amenities. French style double doors let in the sea breeze and lead to a wide elegant veranda with comfy teak plantation chairs and soft cushions so that you can relax and contemplate Island life. Our sea facing rooms all afford beautiful views of the sea at high tide and an ever changing vista throughout the day as the tide changes, and traditional dhows drift out to sea. At low tide walk out onto the sand amongst the flamingos and storks and search for pieces of ancient Chinese porcelain said to be washed up from sunken wrecks.
