The Island >> Ibo Island Beach

Ibo Island Beach

Ibo Island has 3 beaches surrounding the island. One on our doorstep in front of the lodge, one by the light house which makes for an amazing hike at low tide, and the harbour beach. Unfortunately like all beaches in Northern Mozambique, you can either have water and no sand, or sand and no water!

Unless that is there is a deserted sandbar beach, private and secluded, not rushed by the tides, in the middle of the Indian Ocean. The good news is…. There is!

Chasing The Tides

Ibo Islands best kept secret beach is closely accessed from Ibo Island Lodge. Guests have described our sandbank beach excursion as lazy beach bliss at is best. Included daily in your stay at Ibo Island Lodge is a daily transfer to our deserted sugar sand beach. Go by dhow (30 minutes) for those who like to do things traditionally, or  approx.15 minutes by rubber duck for those who take their sand seriously.

We believe this private sandbank beach experience is really one of Ibo's best kept secrets!
