Mozambique dolphin safaris – Ibo Island

At Dive Quirimbas, activity centre part of Ibo Island Lodge, we are now offering you the incredible experience of swimming with wild dolphins in their natural environment. Our dolphin experience lasts 2-3 hrs and includes an introduction to dolphins and their behaviour, a briefing on boat safety, marine life and responsible interactions with the dolphins. We use the regulated Swim Code of Conduct, created to ensure a sustainable eco-friendly approach.

The boat trip takes approx 1 hour by dhow and about 20 mins by speedboat (max 6 people on a speedboat) We then watch the dolphins and slowly kit up to get into the water. We wait for the dolphins to approach us and never try to swim after them or harass them. Some days they love to come and interact with us and some days when they are feeding, for example, they may not come so close. The area in which the dolphins are sighted is in shallow tropical waters and they can be easily seen swimming along the sandy bottoms as well as coming to check us out when they are in the right mood.

With the help of The Dolphin Center crew in Ponta Do Ouro we are making sure that both your experience and the dolphin’s best interests are being catered for. Dive Quirimbas activity center is very proud to be an Ethical Marine Mammal Campaigner in Mozambique who supports the dolphin care code of conduct. Please note that Dolphin in-water observations are not guaranteed due to sightings and the nature of the dolphins. Contact us to find out more about our Dolphin Safaris.
