The beach the lodge uses is secluded and appears in the middle of the Indian Ocean, totally surrounded by blue, clear water and soft sand and accessed only by boat.
Guests have described our sandbank beach excursion as secret and lazy beach bliss at its absolute best. Included in your stay at Ibo Island Lodge is a daily transfer to this sandbank beach. Go by sailing dhow for those who like to do things traditionally, by rubber duck for those who take their beach and sand seriously!
Either way you are guaranteed of an unforgettable experience.
We are often asked about swimming at the beaches on Ibo Island. Like all islands and beaches throughout Mozambique, Ibo is tidal and depending on what the tide is doing you can either have water and no sand, or sand and no water! The tidal bay in front of the lodge is one of Ibo’s unique selling points in that it offers an ever changing view right in front of the lodge. As one guest recently put it, “I didn’t need to venture from my front veranda – the vista changes every hour and I loved all the different colours and scenes – it’s just beautiful.”
