Before & After |

![]() ![]() Never afraid of a challenge, the ruins we bought whilst magnificent in potential, were literally swaying in the winds. Roofs bare open to the sky, great chunks of coral walls collapsing around us and rampant fig trees growing through windows, foundations were quite decayed! Ibo was crumbling around us. We wanted to save the original design and features. But first, we had to make it safe. Laying The FoundationsWe’ve re laid foundations, preserved original tiles, shutters, doors. We dismantled ancient ruined pillars to reconstruct them again. We cast new roofs by hand, heaving wheel barrows of concrete up ramps. We worked with traditional lime, purchased and handmade from the islanders. We planted grass, flowers and over 100 trees. We upholstered, stitched, carved, redesigned, moulded, sanded, painted, tiled, laid awake at night and finally, we have Ibo Island Lodge! It has been a labor of love, developed with much courage, passion and vision by all. |
